Paths

At the beginning of WitchCamp, each camper chooses a Path to follow through a series of teacher-facilitated processes. Paths are a mix of individual and group work, often including discussions, trance, ritual, journaling, craft and other activities and magical techniques.

If it is your first time at CloudCatcher it is expected that you will take the Elements of Magic Path
(unless you have taken Elements of Magic in the community or at another camp)

Elements of Magic

with Urania & August Wolff.

How do the elements change us? Every day we naturally engage with the elements of earth, air, water, fire and spirit as living parts of nature. individually and in combination with one another. They act upon us, yet we too are nature expressing itself, just as the flower which blooms, dies, is eaten by detritivores and sprouts again. The carved rock reminds us that we too are carved as we age. The world is made up of stardust, as we are made up of stardust.

By combining the literal and figurative, the outer and inner worlds in eternal relationship, we use magic – our will and power – to change our lives. In this path we work with the elements not as being ‘out there’ but as the shapeshifting spirals we are interwoven with. This is an invitation to discover the foundations of a Reclaiming magical practice, return to the essence of our practice or to shapeshift it into something new.

Join us as we practice grounding and circle casting, learn how to raise energy with your breath and body and will, how to enter into trance and return, invoke and release the elements and Mysterious Ones of the Craft. There will be meditation and breathwork, spells and enchantments, edgewalking and shapeshifting.

This is an all ages path.

If you have not taken Elements of Magic before, this is the path for you.

Deep Self, Deep Well - Bringing Ourselves towards Wholeness

with Plex & Jane Meredith.

We invite the blessings of Brigid, of the waters, and of this land we meet on.

Immersing deep in her waters we offer healing - to ourselves, to our relationship with land, and as witness to others in our community. We draw from the wells of self-knowledge, of inspiration and magic, of community care.

This is a watery path. Like water we seek to change our forms, to flow…. Who is this self that we bring to this work? What affects us - from within, and from without? How have we been shaped by forces beyond our control, and how do we learn to shed those skins to show our true selves? Changed and changing we work with trance and ritual, we visit with land, we craft magic, we hold space and bring deep listening.

In this path we will explore boundaries and integrity with self. Letting go of the overculture we seek the truth of ourselves. We will make altar cloths for Brigid, co-create a healing ritual, take our questions out onto the land, consider our shadows, and learn to work with the Wheel of Consent. We approach healing as a verb, an ongoing set of relationships and actions that begin with the self and ripple outwards, through the fabric of ourselves and the community, held within the cauldron of the Divine.

This path is for 15+ (babies also accepted) as we anticipate discussion of emotional and sexual topics, and nudity may be optionally chosen at some points.

Elements of Magic is a pre-requisite.

Queer Kinship: It is Time to Honour our Pledges

with Megan & Alex Iantaffi.

Our more-than human bodies spiral through the Mountain with clear senses unveiling mysteries in the darkness. We follow the roar of the waterfalls inviting us into fierce compassion, presence and kinship. We embrace our bodies of knowledge and wisdom gained from life’s adventures. In this path, we will explore and experience Brigid’s healing magic of connection with self and community. There is a queerness to our dancing beyond being human, shapeshifting with the ancient landscape of Gondwana rainforest.

We will strive to challenge colonial, patriarchal, sexist, cisgenderist and ableist ways of relating to ourselves and one another so that we can move more fully into authentic kinship with green, blue and red bloods. It is through kinship and reciprocity that belonging as an ecosystem arises. Through silence, movement, song, mirth and reverence, we will listen to our queer spirits to discover the pledges that are necessary to celebrate the sacredness of our bodyminds, of the land, and of community. You can hear, but can you really listen? It is in the deep listening that pledges are activated and we bring change to all the worlds.

This path is for 15+ as we anticipate discussion of emotional and queer topics.

Elements of Magic is a prerequisite.

Brigid of the Forge: Tending the Wild Flame of Creativity

with Silen Charlie Wellington & Sue Blackfeather

Due to Illness this path will no longer be offered.
Silien will be co teaching in the Queer Kinship path.
Our apologies.

What is it that calls you to the forge? What are you ready to hone?

At the hearth of the forge we meet and dare to kindle the flame within. With our voices, our stories, our desires we ignite the fires of alchemical magic. Through rhythm, movement, poetry and song we will bend, shape, and give form to our creative aspirations. In this Path, we will reclaim our birthright to create. We will explore skills & devotional practices to hone our craft. We will write, sing, chant, improvise, dance, and reflect on the Iron Pentacle as an art form.

This Path is open to those with a creative spirit. This Path is for those who are willing to step into the wild flame and rekindle joy and ecstatic expression. This Path is open to those who want to be reminded of the unique parts of themselves that may have been lost, silenced or forgotten.

We will endeavour to break apart the limitations we place upon ourselves when we’re told we can’t, we won’t, we shouldn’t, we have no right to. We will open to the possibility that we have the tools we need to dare, to bend, to shape and give form to our artisan selves. We will offer instruction and guidance to understand the disciplines that are needed to support this journey of inspiration.

We will find rhythm and inspiration in the power of the forge. You don’t have to be a musician, poet, songster, storyteller or artist of any sort to take this Path as it is open to anyone who is willing to delve into the mystery of potential and possibility.

This is an all-ages Path.
