How will I get there?
When CloudCatcher is an in-person Camp the closest airport is the Gold Coast Airport. Driving times are approximately:
From Brisbane: 1.5 hours
From the Gold Coast: 40 minutes to an hour
From Byron Bay: 2 hours.
Carpooling can be facilitated by the Camp organisers but is not guaranteed. You are ultimately responsible for getting to the venue yourself. If you have the capacity to pick up and transport someone else (from the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Byron) your assistance is gratefully appreciated.
Maps and directions will be included in the Registration Pack.
If Covid restricts the ability to have an in-person camp, this camp will happen online. -
Tell me about the venue
When an in person camp is possible CloudCatcher WitchCamp is held each year on unceded Aboriginal land. We acknowledge the Yugambeh and Bundjalung Peoples, who—in the North and in the South—have cultivated and sustained the Dreaming of this vast and sacred landscape for tens of thousands of years.
We pay our respects to the Elders of this Land, past, present, and emerging, and honour the Dreaming of this Country.
And we are humble in acknowledging complexity in these relationships with Land—that the erosion of culture caused by over two hundred years and wave after wave of colonisation, displacement, and violence, make it difficult to say today with any precision or subtlety whose Land we walk upon at Camp.
We acknowledge these past and present injustices and displacement. We seek to be in right relationship with the living custodians and the spirits of this Land, and hope that the work we as witches do together shifts our world each day closer to regeneration and justice.
CloudCatcher WitchCamp is held on the so-called Springbrook Plateau halfway between so-called Brisbane and Byron Bay. It is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and rainforest communities. More information on the venue will be provided on registration. Please feel free to contact cloudcatcherwitchcamp@gmail.com if you have any specific questions regarding venue.

Will I need to be ‘tech savvy’ for an online camp?
The 2024 camp will be held in person.
No. The organisers and teachers will be doing their best to guide you through the online camp experience, and are prepared for people who may not consider themselves technically proficient. We will have a dedicated tech team to address any issues or troubleshoot through problems if they arise. The main software components of the online camp are free to use, and commonly known. We will be using Zoom for our video calls, which requires that you download the app (for free) onto your desktop, laptop or mobile. Go to https://zoom.us/download and select ‘Zoom Client for Meetings’ to download to your computer.
We will be using Facebook & emails for general communication in the lead-up to camp.

What tech requirements will I need to be ready for the online camp?
The 2024 camp with be held in person
A desktop or laptop computer with a basic webcam, microphone & headphones/speakers. An internet connection. The Zoom app installed. Your mobile phone may also be able to provide you with all of these. If you are unsure if your computer/laptop/mobile will be able to handle the tech requirements, please reach out to us at ccwcorgs@gmail.com and we will help you. -
What about food, sleeping arrangements etc
For an in person camp the food provided is vegetarian, three meals a day, from and including Thursday dinner through to and including Monday lunch. If you have any significant dietary requirements, please notify us PRIOR to Camp. The accommodation is dormitory style, each room sleeping up to eight people. There is no linen hire available so your own bedding must be arranged, though there is a laundry on site. There is also an option to camp in your own tent if you prefer.
For an online camp these arrangements are up to you! Please ensure that you are as comfortable as possible to enjoy and engage fully with the online camp experience. Depending on your community and bio-region you may be able to share the experience in person with other witches by creating online camp nests! We’ll leave that to you, your imagination and what is available to you!

Are children allowed at camp?
Due to the intensive nature of the Camp, CloudCatcher was originally a camp for adults 18 years and over. Since 2017 we have moved to an all ages approach, allowing young people under the age of 18 to attend with their guardian. For more details see Safer Spaces Policy - All Age Camp.

Is CloudCatcher WitchCamp an adult space?
CloudCatcher has until 2017 been for over 18s, and there are some cultures and spaces we have fostered, such as the Bower, and the option of nudity at times at camp. Particularly we wish any parents attending with young people to be aware of this.
The Bower: At CloudCatcher WitchCamp there is a room dedicated to the Sacred Body. This is a sex-positive temple space, tended by a devoted priestessing team, a welcoming 18+ space where the body and pleasure are honoured as sacred. It is a luscious space for sharing, discussion, and healing. The Bower hosts optional offerings exploring relevant work and is also available for personal and shared work outside of this. As befits sacred space, all activities within it are with sensitive awareness of self and others, and in full consent and communication. Respecting personal and legal boundaries, any nudity or sexual acts are to occur only between fully consenting adults, 18 years or older, in private. Bower agreements and information are clearly posted outside the bower space at camp.
Nudity: Nudity may be a component of some Paths or Bower offerings and this will be made clear beforehand. Some nudity is possible in the evening rituals. There is strictly NO NUDITY in the dining hall and kitchen due to health and safety reasons. This is a dynamic chance for people to explore, challenge and negotiate boundaries in a safe, supportive environment.
CloudCatcher’s safer spaces policy specifically addresses a range of issues and can be found here.
